In the sixth FD Podcast of the series, editor Oliver McBride speaks to Patrick Murphy, CEO of the Irish South and West Fish Producers Organisation on the crisis facing the Irish fishing industry

Irish fishing communities need the public to know what is happening to them, that’s according to Patrick Murphy CEO of the Irish South and West Fish Producers Organisation.

Brexit, losing quota in UK waters, penalty points pressure coming from the EU Commission, the loss of the control plan, the incompetence of the SFPA and the impending doom of the further decommissioning of the Irish fishing fleet is driving stress levels in Irish fishing communities through the roof as they face an uncertainty.

I speak to Patrick about the issues facing the fishing industry and a ‘show and tell’ which is to be held at Cork harbour at the end of May.
