McMinn Marine Closes After Twenty Years Serving Scottish Fishing Industry
McMinn Marine Ltd, the well-known Fraserburgh-based marine electronics and electrical services company, has announced its immediate closure after almost twenty years in operation, citing the impact of an increasingly challenging trading environment.
In a statement issued from its base in Lonmay, the company said:
“After almost twenty years of service to the marine industry, and a very challenging 18 months, we have made the difficult decision to close McMinn Marine Ltd effective immediately. We are immensely grateful to all our loyal customers for your trust, business, and support over the past two decades. Thank you.”
McMinn Marine has been a familiar name throughout the Scottish fishing and maritime sectors, known for its work in sales, service, and repairs of marine electronics and electrical systems. The firm supported a wide range of commercial vessels operating from ports all over Scotland.
The closure comes amid mounting pressures for small and medium-sized marine engineering and service firms, many of which have been affected by reduced margins, supply chain costs, and economic uncertainty across the sector.
In its closure announcement, the company confirmed that long-serving director Kevin McMinn will continue to support existing customers by joining TRAXNAV Ltd, a company specialising in marine navigation and electronic systems.
“To ensure a smooth transition for the future needs of McMinn Marine customers, Kevin will now operate as part of TRAXNAV Ltd,” the statement added. “Please direct all future enquiries to [email protected].”
The move marks the end of an era for McMinn Marine, a company that built a reputation over two decades as a trusted local partner for Scotland’s fishing fleet and wider marine industry.
