Norwegian trawler “Havfisk”, built by Karstensens Shipyard

MS HAVFISK was christened in Ålesund yesterday, Saturday 11 April 2026, nearly a year after it’s delivery from the shipyard.

The vessel arrived in Ålesund in May 2025 from Karstensens Skibsværft in Skagen, Denmark, and has been engaged in fishing until now.

This new vessel is the company’s fourth newbuild. The company is owned and operated by Henning Veibust. The vessel was designed and outfitted by Karstensens Skibsværft in Denmark with the hull being built in Poland.

“The construction process has been good and we would like to highlight the strong cooperation with Karstensens Skibsværft, which has resulted in a vessel that both the company and crew are extremely satisfied with,” Veibust said.

He points out that the company has focused on innovative solutions, with particular emphasis placed on optimising working conditions, safety and comfort for the crew.

“The design, layout and equipment have been developed through close cooperation between the company and the shipyard. We have done a great deal to ensure this vessel is environmentally friendly, low-noise and safe in every possible way,” Veibust said.

Safety and secure working conditions have been given special attention, with Havfisk featuring a fully enclosed cargo deck. The aft trawl deck has been raised by an entire deck level, with the aim of increasing freeboard and thereby improving crew safety.
