The European Commission has launched a consultation on its Technical Measures Regulation Implementation Report Consultation

Have your say by 24 November 2023

After more than four years of implementation and following the legal requirement of Article 31.1 of Regulation 2019/1241, in 2024, the Commission will report for the second time, to the European Parliament and the Council on the implementation of the Technical Measures Regulation.

This important regulation contains rules on how, when and where the fishing activity will take place. It includes specifications on mesh sizes, closed areas and gear techniques to carry out the fishing activity in the most responsible manner.

This will be the second report on the implementation of the regulation and will assess whether these rules are contributing to a more sustainable and respectful fishing activity.

To do so, it is essential to count on most reliable scientific information (STECF, ICES), on information provided by Member States and relevant Advisory Councils, as well as any other stakeholders.

Therefore, fishing industry, non-governmental organisations, academic, scientific, social and economic partners and interested citizens are invited to take part and express their views on the implementation of technical measures by 24 November 2023.
