Gale warnings have been issued for Friday ahead of Storm Dennis which is due to sweep across the North Atlantic over the weekend.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow Marine Warning  with southerly winds veering southwest with gales this morning on all Irish coastal waters and on the Irish Sea. Winds are forecasted to occasionally reaching strong gale force 9 at first on coasts between Slyne Head and Malin Head . 

In the UK the Met Office has issued a strong wind warning ahead of Storm Dennis with southerly winds veering south between gale force 5 to 7 occasionally reaching gale force 8 to 9.
