Storm Ciara is forecasted to bring heavy rain, with strong winds and damaging gusts across the country today and tomorrow.
For today, Donegal and Mayo, a Status Orange Wind Warning remains in place from 12.00 to 16.00. Winds are expected to be southerly in direction with a mean speed of 65 to 80km/h accompanied by gusts up to 120km/h.
Met Eireann has also given a Status Orange Wind Warning from 13.00 to 18.00 on Saturday. Winds are expected to be southerly in direction with a mean speed of 65 to 80km/h accompanied by gusts up to 120km/h.
The Status Yellow wind warning remains in place for the rest of the country and will be valid from 09:00 Saturday to 23:59 Sunday.
Saturday, 8th Feb: Southerly winds will strengthen during Saturday reaching mean speeds of 50-65km/h with gusts reaching 90-110km/h.
The Status Yellow rain fall warning also remains in place from 12:00 Saturday to 15:00 Sunday.
Storm Ciara is forecasted to bring heavy rain across the country with rainfalls expected to be between 20 to 40mm. This news is accompanied by a Yellow Status Weather Warning for rain which is set to be at its worst between 12.00 on Saturday and 15.00 on Sunday.
Coastal areas are advised to be on warning and expect flooding as it will be spring tides and with the high winds of Storm Ciara it is expected to pose a greater risk to areas prone to such.
