Rescue 115 was tasked with medevacing a crewman from a Spanish fishing vessel this evening

Irish Coast Guard helicopter Rescue 115 has just completed the task of medevacing a crewman from a Spanish fishing vessel 70 nautical miles south-west of Castletownbere early this evening.

The casualty was successfully airlifted to Cork International Airport where they were transferred over to the National Ambulance Service (NAS) and from there transferred to Cork University Hospital.

Details from the airlift have not yet been released but it is believed the crewman was suffering from abdominal pain.

Rescue 115 is now safely back at Shannon. Earlier, the helicopter crew was tasked to Inishmaan, Aran Islands, where they completed a successful and airlifted a casualty from there to Galway University Hospital. Whilst at Galway the crew were retasked by the Valentia Coast Gurard to medevac a crewman from the Spanish fishing vessel. Enroute to the rescue the helicopter refueled at Kerry International Airport.
