Quiet week for the pelagic fleet, most have made it home for the Christmas break, Camilla Klævold, Communication Advisor with Norges Sildesalgslag reports in week 49 of 2022.

On the NVG Herring fishing Camilla says that the fishing at Kvænangen is now finished for this year.

“We had the last catches reported before the weekend” she says. “There have been a couple of vessels in activity this week and a total of 1,401 tonnes have been locked up.

“From the sea fishing, 3,300 tonnes have been registered this week and there is now only one vessel left in the field north of Arnøya.”

The total for NVG herring recorded for last week thus ends at 4,701 tonnes.

On North Sea herring, two vessels this week have caught, 270 tonnes in the British zone and 200 tonnes from the North Sea. In addition, 54 tonnes have been registered from smaller vessels along the coast.

Camilla says that on mixed fishing, “There has been a vessel that has gone up and down the Kanten this week and brought in a few tonnes of fish for flour and oil. Here, 190 tonnes of blue whiting, 15 tonnes of argentine, four tonnes of pollock and two tonnes of horse mackerel have been registered.”
