McConalogue hopeful of agreement on key concerns for Irish fishing industry
Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue has assured the Irish fishing industry that he will be working in their best interest of the sector at the AGRIFISH Council being held in Brussels today.
Commenting on annual December fisheries negotiations in Brussels, the Minister said “Almost all our stocks are shared with the UK. We have had four rounds of negotiations and I have stayed very close to Commissioner Sinkevicius and made sure he is aware of all of Ireland’s key priorities. While the negotiations have been very difficult, we are at an advanced stage and I am confident we will get an agreement that will meet all of our key concerns. Our positions have always been informed by the science.”
