Lyme Bay Fisherman’s CIC is hosting a virtual evening with fisheries and maritime lawyer, Andrew Oliver, of Andrew Jackson Solicitors

The newly formed Lyme Bay Fisherman’s CIC is hosting a virtual evening with Andrew Oliver, of Andrew Jackson Solicitors for their members this Wednesday 15 March, starting at 6.00pm.

The event is designed to give an overview of the current regulatory landscape and horizon scan what the future holds.

Andrew Oliver said:

“It is great to be able to meet the members of this new association and discuss current issues that fisherman around the coast are experiencing and how that converts to monitoring and enforcement by regulators.

“This new CIC gives me the opportunity to speak to many fishermen at the same time, it is great to see that they created this grass roots association, and I am really pleased to be able to meet with them”.

There have been lots of new regulations over the past few years, and many consultations are underway that have the potential to shape new policy and regulations. If you are a small-scale fisherman, an owner operator, sometimes it is difficult to keep on top of all that is going on. This event will give the LBF members to hear a broad view of what is happening around the coast, and to raise concerns and get clarity on all things, fishing.

Chief Exec of LBF Mandy Wolfe said:

“Our small-scale fleet across the four ports of West Bay, Lyme Regis, Beer and Axmouth are mostly owner operators and many sail single handed.

“Part of the drive to create LBF was to have fisherman’s voices heard by policy makers and regulators, but it also provides a great opportunity to host events for our members so they can hear from professionals working in and around the industry.

“We are delighted that Andrew has graciously given up his time to talk to us. This is our first #MeetOurMembers event in an ongoing series of guest speakers, and we are all looking forward to hearing about what is going on around the coast, and in our Courts.”
