DG MARE is set to host its 2024 Fisheries Science Seminar with a spotlight on AI in sustainable fisheries

2024 Fisheries Science Seminar Spotlights Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Sustainable Fisheries

The Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries is set to host its annual Fisheries Science Seminar on September 25, 2024.

This year, the spotlight is on the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in achieving sustainable fisheries.

The seminar aims to delve into the rapid advancements in AI and how these can bolster scientific processes, fisheries management, and fishing operations. The event will feature presentations from experts who have successfully integrated AI into fisheries science projects.

Participants will have the opportunity to join discussion groups, reflecting on the application of AI in various aspects of fisheries. These include data collection and analysis, fisheries management and conservation, and the potential benefits and challenges for fishermen.

The Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries envisions this seminar as a platform for dialogue, networking, and reflection on the current state of scientific advice and research in fisheries. The insights gained from the seminar will inform future policies and refine existing ones. Moreover, it will enhance the internal training provided to colleagues, promoting knowledge exchange and collaboration within the institution.

The Fisheries Science Seminar will be a hybrid event, offering attendees the flexibility to participate either in-person or online. However, physical participation is strongly encouraged to maximize the benefits of expert interactions and discussions.

Registration for the 2024 Fisheries Science Seminar is now open. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the intersection of AI and sustainable fisheries.
