Irish exporters of fishery products to Türkiye must now register with the Turkish Ministry, in addition to existing SFPA certificates for consignments

The Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority has recently issued an Information Notice (IN) to industry in relation to technical requirements for Irish companies trading with Türkiye in an evolving *third country regulatory environment.

The SFPA has received notification from the Ministry of Agriculture of The Republic of Türkiye that, all third country exporters of fishery products to Türkiye will need to be registered with them prior to export, effective immediately.

This new registration requirement does not change existing documentary requirements for export consignments of fishery products from Ireland to Türkiye. All such consignments must be accompanied by an SFPA issued health certificate for Türkiye, and an SFPA issued certificate of origin.  These certificates are available on application to approved establishments from their local SFPA port office.

However, in addition to these existing certification requirements, any Irish Food Business Operator (FBO) who wishes to export fishery products to Türkiye will now also need to be registered.

This registration application is made via the SFPA Trade Compliance and Internal Audit Unit. If you wish to register your establishment for export to Türkiye, you can begin the process by emailing [email protected].
