Canney Launches Irish Coast Guard’s New Aviation Service

The Irish Government has published the National Search and Rescue Plan Report 2022-2024 providing a comprehensive overview of SAR activity across Ireland’s land, sea and air domains

Minister of State Seán Canney, with responsibility for the Irish Coast Guard, has today published the National Search and Rescue (SAR) Plan Report for years 2022, 2023 and 2024, which provides a comprehensive overview of SAR activity across Ireland’s land, sea and air domains.

The report includes detailed statistics and summaries of SAR-related activity from 2022 to 2024, reflecting the scale and complexity of operations across the State.

Ireland’s SAR service, which is dedicated to promoting a nationally coordinated search and rescue response to persons in distress at sea, air or on land, is manned by both staff and volunteers alike.

The report includes information from this wide range of SAR organisations, all of which continued to deliver essential services while maintaining high standards in training, equipment and coordination.
