The new ‘ANTHEMIS’ built by PIRIOU Shipyard in Brittany

PIRIOU shipyard in Concarneau, Brittany has delivered a new fishing vessel named MV ‘ANTHEMIS’ to owner Jérôme Cabaret.

The 22.75m fishing boat is designed and equipped for bottom and midwater trawling in le Manche (English Channel) and in the Irish Sea.

This ‘ANTHEMIS’ is due to be christened in her home port in St Brieuc-North Brittany where she will be based.

Jérôme Cabaret started his own career as a fleet owner in 1996 with the purchase of 12m coastal trawlers l’INDOMPTABLE, ANTHINEAS, ANTHEUS and IXIA a 14.90m boat. Following the sale of all the 12m trawlers and last IXIA in 2016 he purchased a deep-sea trawler by the name of ‘NOMINOE’ in 2017.

The contract for the ‘ANTHEMIS’ was signed on the November 26th 2018. This new build is the result of a collaboration between shipowner Jérôme Cabaret, PIRIOU, naval architect Pantocarenea and shipbroker Atlantic Marine Services SAS, Concarneau.

Vincent Faujour, PIRIOU President declared: “ANTHEMIS is the fruit of the meeting between Mr and Mrs Cabaret and PIRIOU. We established a trusting on-going relationship, supported by shipbroker Atlantique Marine Services and Pantocarène -Didier Marchand.

“I think we built the vessel boat owner J. Cabaret was expecting for its development. At PIRIOU, we have been building trawlers for over 50 years and artisanal fishing is the origin of our DNA. Abandon this activity would be like cutting our roots.”

Jérôme Cabaret added: “An outstanding job was done by Jean Lijour from the design office, and by Cédric Cordroch and his team driven by Tony.

“ANTHEMIS is a fine work tool with high-quality finishes offering a combination of comfort, performance and safety. I am totally satisfied with her as she perfectly answers my request. I thank Vincent Fajour, Paul-Henri Celton and the whole team from PIRIOU!”
