Two fishermen were rescued when their fishing boat sank south of Tory Island off the coast of Donegal this morning.
The 10m (36ft) Silver Rose, issued a mayday at approximately 5.58am, reporting that it was taking in water. The Malin Head Coast Guard responded immediately.
The Coast Guard Rescue 118 helicopter and the Árainn Mhór Lifeboat were tasked to the scene, along with the Tory Coast Guard.
Another local fishing boat, the Ailbhe Marie, which was in the vicinity responded to the alert and located the the two fishermen about 1.5 miles from their vessel which had sunk in a life raft. They took the men ashore to Machaire Rabhartaigh where they were met by members of the Bunbeg Coast Guard shore unit.
It is understood the men did not require any medical attention as luckily neither of them had entered the water.
The Silver Rose sank about a half a mile south of the island.
