It has been formally announced that Peterhead Port Authority has taken ownership of Peterhead Ice Company

Peterhead Port Authority has taken ownership of Peterhead Ice Company with the news been formally announced today.

Situated on two sites on the harbour front of the UK’s premier fishing port, Peterhead Ice Company has served the fishing industry within and around the port of Peterhead. The business can supply bulk flake ice on twenty-four hour/seven days a week basis with minimal notification.

With a 100 tonne per day production capacity and over 100 tonne of bulk storage we can dispatch from 100kgs upwards of ice at a rate of up to 30 tonnes per hour directly into the hold of fishing vessels, or onto trucks and lorries for onshore processers and other customers.

Peterhead Ice Company knows that flake ice is the fishing industries ice of choice for cooling and preservation of seafood, something recognised by the Port Authority who made the announcement in a statement saying:

“Peterhead Port Authority is pleased formally to announce that as of today, Tuesday 22nd July, it has assumed ownership of Peterhead Ice Company.

“All of the current employees of Peterhead Ice Company have transferred to the Authority and together we will move forward and continue to provide the very best levels of service in the provision of ice.

“We would like to thank North East Ice Company for the opportunity of being able to support this transition and we look forward to you, our customers, for your ongoing support.”

In other Peterhead Port Authority news, Alexandra Parade will be closed from Monday 25 July until Friday 29 July between 1200 and 1830hrs for the removal of the shipping containers in front of the Fish Market. Due to the road closure, Queenie Bridge will be in operation as the alternative route.
