Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue meeting the fishing community at Leenan Pier

On Monday 19th July, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine and Donegal T.D., Charlie McConalogue, visited Leenan Pier, Urris.
 
The Minister met with the local fishing community to discuss inshore fishing matters and matters specific to the local community.
 
The Minister also inspected Donegal County Council works to Leenan Slipway. The Minister announced a total 2021 funding of €200k in May with 75% funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.

Construction of a news slipway is being carried out at Leenan Pier

Commenting on the visit, the Minister said:
“The inshore fishing communities right across Inishowen, Donegal and Ireland are essential to the fabric of the local communities in which they are situated and are the lifeblood of those communities. It was a pleasure to visit the Pier recently to see the progress on the essential slipway which will improve the Pier and to meet the local fishers including the Kearney family.”
