The Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) has confirmed that it has under preliminary assessment an incident of a fatal man overboard in St Abbs harbour which occurred on Saturday 28 August 2021.

The incident happened aboard the under-10m UK-registered Harriet J AH 180 which operated as a single-hander and is based in St Abbs on the south-east coast of Scotland.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to assist the Coastguard at St Abbs, Coldingham, following concern for a 64-year-old man in the water around 9.30am on Saturday, 28 August, 2021. He was conveyed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he died a short time later. A full report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
