The Spanish Ministry of Fisheries has signed an agreement with the fishermen’s associations for a campaign to promote seafood in national markets

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food in Spain has signed a collaboration agreement with the National Federation of Fishermen’s Associations to carry out various promotion activities for fishery products in domestic markets.

Under this agreement, published today in the Official State Gazette (BOE), the Ministry will contribute €60,000 to finance 50% of the projected activities.

As part of this agreement, several promotional activities will take place during the years 2023 and 2024 to facilitate the commercialisation of fishery products. The planned activities include promotions in retail markets, hospitality schools, and restaurant chains. The Ministry will also participate in fairs, conduct informational sessions, and produce promotional and informative materials.

The joint promotion efforts between the Government and representatives from the fishing sector are a clear example of the essential functions of improving and enhancing the competitiveness of the professional sector and the support and boost it receives from the public sector.

Signing agreements, as in this case with the National Federation of Fishermen’s Associations, is one way of collaborating with sectoral organisations and associations to promote the commercialisation of fishery and aquaculture products, revitalize the market, and ensure its future.
