EU Advisory Councils Welcome New Fisheries Commissioner

The EU Advisory Councils have congratulated the Commissioner-designate for Fisheries and Oceans, Costas Kadis on his recent parliamentary approval

The eleven EU Advisory Councils have extended their congratulations to Commissioner-designate for Fisheries and Oceans, Costas Kadis, following his parliamentary approval.

In a letter addressed to the Commissioner, the councils commended his commitment to securing EU food sovereignty, enhancing global ocean health, and supporting coastal communities.

The Advisory Councils, which represent a wide range of stakeholders in the fisheries and aquaculture sectors, pledged to collaborate closely with Kadis to achieve sustainable and competitive fisheries and aquaculture policies. These councils, composed of representatives from primary producers, processors, retailers, NGOs, and other groups, play a key role in advising the European Commission on fisheries management and socio-economic aspects of the sector.
