Danish Pelagic Producers’ Organization Appoints Interim Chairman

The Danish Pelagic Producers’ Organization (DPPO) has appointed a new interim chairman until the summer of 2026. It will be fishing skipper and shipping company owner Karsten Mølgaard from Hirtshals, who together with Lise Bjørn Jørgensen is behind the pelagic shipping company, Isafold.

Karsten Mølgaard has many years of experience in pelagic fisheries and a thorough knowledge of both the technical, commercial and political aspects that characterise Danish and international fisheries management.

As an active commercial fisherman, he has been deeply involved in the development of Danish fisheries, safety at sea and the education of fishermen as part of the MARTEC board and as co-founder of the Nordsøen Fri Fagskole in Hirtshals.

“I look forward to working with the board, secretariat and colleagues in the industry. Pelagic fishing faces both major challenges and great opportunities, and my goal is to contribute to stability and continued development during a period of great attention to our industry,” says Karsten Mølgaard, interim chairman of the Danish Pelagic Producers’ Association.

Karsten Mølgaard will hold the position until a permanent chairman is elected at the organisation’s annual general meeting in the summer of 2026.

At the same time, DPPO is engaged in a major process that will lead to the appointment of a future permanent chairman who can lead the organisation in the long term.
