Norges Sildesalgslag has reported that the Norwegian North Sea Herring fleet recorded 7,500 tonnes of fish in the catch journal for last week as the fishing slows as the summer holidays approaches
Norwegian pelagic trawlers, Kings Bay and Vendla left Bergen on Friday and together with four other vessels will cover a large area in search of mackerel until 4 August
The Norwegian North Sea herring fishery experienced another slow week as 6,885 tonnes was reported to have been caught by the fleet.
The Norwegian Minister of Fisheries and Seafood has extended the snow crab season until 10 July, giving the fishermen nine extra days before the fishing closes, similar to last year when the season was also extended.
A preliminary report on the results of an international expedition from last May in the Norwegian Sea and adjacent sea areas is now available.
The 2020 sandeel season has ended for the Norwegian fleet with 244,404 tonnes being registered on the landing books, just 6,000 tonnes under the total allocation.
