Landings of high value species including hake, monkfish and megrim resulted in an increase (+15%) in the overall value of landings to Irish ports in 2019 according to the latest BIM Business of Seafood report.
The Minister for the Marine is currently not proposing a tie-up scheme for the Irish fishing fleet but instead is strongly leaning towards using the EMFF for Storage Aid.
The organiser of last night’s blockade has warned the Minister for the Marine that “Dingle is closed down at the moment.”

It has been reported that further protests are taking place in Dingle, Co Kerry tonight as fisherman blockade the harbour to prevent a foreign fishing vessel from landing once again.
