SILLIE MARIE KARSTENSENS SHIPYARD

Karstensens Shipyard has delivered the new 65.90m trawler SILLE MARIE to Sillie Marie A/S based in Søgne, Norway

On July 2, 2021, a contract was entered into between Sille Marie AS and Karstensens Shipyard A/S for the construction of a new 65.90 m trawler.

The newbuilding is now completed and delivered to the shipping company. A christening ceremony will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, in Kristiansand.

Sille Marie AS is owned by Carl Aamodt and the Salthaug family from Søgne, Norway. The shipping company was established in 2015. This vessel is the company’s first newbuilding and will replace the previous “Sille Marie,” which was purchased from Sweden in 2015 and has now been sold back to Sweden. The company is led by Carl Aamodt in collaboration with skipper Bastian Salthaug, Yngvar Salthaug, and chief engineer Tobias Salthaug.

The company engages in combined trawl fishing, both pelagic for herring and mackerel and also for industrial fish combined with consumer fish/whitefish. The new vessel will be operated according to the same principles.

The collaboration between the shipping company and the shipyard is relatively new, starting with maintenance work on the existing Sille Marie in 2020.

Karstensens Shipyard is pleased with the trust shown by Carl Aamodt and the Salthaug family with this order.

SILLE MARIE – DESCRIPTION:

Similar to other ships that the shipyard is building for owners in Norway, Scotland, Sweden, the Faroe Islands, and Iceland, the new “Sille Marie” is of its own design.

Following the delivery of the new “Sille Marie,” Karstensens Shipyard has a total of 19 fishing vessels in the order book for delivery over the next 3 years.

The new vessel is a state-of-the-art combination vessel, designed for fishing both pelagic and demersal consumer fish, equipped with the latest machinery, equipment, and facilities.

The green profile is highly emphasized through practical and efficient solutions. Throughout the design and specification process, there has been a strong focus on the vessel’s operational profile and optimization of fuel consumption, thus reducing emissions.

Especially the hull’s shape and integration with a large, slow-running propeller have been subjects of extensive research and optimization, in close collaboration with the propulsion system supplier.

In addition, the vessel is equipped with a battery pack to optimize consumption during peak shaving and provide extra power in critical operating conditions.

ENGINE ROOM & MACHINERY

SILLIE MARIE trawler norway

The design philosophy behind the main/engine configuration is as follows:

The vessel is equipped with a 2920 kW main engine and a 1650 kW shaft generator.

For additional power supply, the vessel is equipped with 2 diesel generator sets, each rated at 565 ekW. The electrical system is designed to allow parallel operation of the 2 diesel generators. Furthermore, the electrical system is equipped with a Power Management System (PMS) that manages power consumption and automatically starts the diesel generators.

In addition, a UPS/clean power for 230V is installed, allowing the vessel’s frequency to fluctuate between 50 and 60 Hz. This enables the reduction of the main engine’s revolutions by 17%.

A complete 622 kWh battery pack is installed to provide power during limited time periods and for peak shaving.
