- The new report highlights leadership in data-driven ocean science, marine resource management and global research and sustainability partnerships.
Satlink, European leading group in ocean science, data, and innovation, has presented its 2025 Impact Report, a document reflecting a key year marked by growth, technological integration, and strengthened capacity to generate knowledge to support decision-making in favor of a more sustainable and resilient ocean.
In a context where less than 5% of the ocean is comprehensively monitored, Satlink continues to lead the development of solutions that combine technology, data and collaboration to enhance understanding of the marine environment, enabling governments, scientific institutions, NGOs, fishing fleets and the wider industry to make data-driven decisions and promote more responsible and transparent management of marine resources.
In 2025, the company experienced strong growth, increasing its workforce by 56% to exceed 300 employees across 13 offices worldwide. Satlink currently serves more than 10,000 clients in 130 countries and collaborates with over 40 governments in the sustainable management of marine resources.
According to Faustino Velasco, Chairman and CEO of Satlink, “this report reaffirms our role as a bridge between ocean science and technology, and our long-term vision. Our priority is to ensure that the data we generate is transformed into useful knowledge for those making decisions about the ocean. Every step we take, from developing new technologies to generating knowledge about our oceans, aims to help build a more sustainable and better-managed marine environment, and a more connected, informed, and committed maritime industry.”
Driving ocean knowledge at a global scale
The report shows that in 2025 Satlink strengthened its scientific and technology capabilities with the integration of nke (following the 2024 acquisition of Canadian company Xeos Technologies, now operating as Xeos by Satlink), expanding its presence in ocean observation and reinforcing its position as a global provider of data-driven solutions.
The group continued to advance key marine resource monitoring initiatives, including its participation in international programs such as Argo, as well as the development of management solutions for governments. Among these, Satlink is implementing Europe’s most advanced digital fisheries management system for the Government of Malta, integrating 100% of fishing activity under a single governance framework.
The year also marked the launch of new solutions focused on maritime security, including underwater threat detection technologies; coastal management, through seabed monitoring; and sustainable fishing, with improvements in traceability, selectivity, and operational efficiency. These solutions enable fleets, authorities, and scientists to operate with greater precision, transparency, and safety.
Circular economy and environmental impact reduction
Satlink has continued to advance its circular economy program, Project ReCon, now active in 24 countries and covering more than 70,000 km of coastline, giving a second life to fishing technology and contributing to scientific research, marine conservation, and the resilience of coastal communities.
On the environmental front, the report also highlights progress in areas such as plastic consumption (22 tonnes reduced through product redesign), and increased use of renewable energy, which now accounts for 62%.
At the same time, Satlink’s growth has been accompanied by a strong commitment to talent and innovation, as demonstrated by a 106% increase in its R&D team, 30% female representation in management positions, and high job stability with low turnover rate. These achievements reflect the company’s commitment to building highly qualified and diverse teams.
As noted in the report, in 2025 Satlink also strengthened its institutional presence, participating in international forums such as the United Nations Ocean Conference and collaborating with European institutions, including the European Parliament, where it shared its expertise on the role of technology and data in enabling more effective and coordinated ocean management.
In this context, Faustino Velasco adds: “With this report, we go beyond traditional sustainability reporting and focus on the practical impact of our technology, data, and partnerships. Looking ahead, we will continue to expand our technological capabilities and international collaborations, with the goal of contributing to a more resilient, transparent, and sustainable ocean.”
