New Era Begins for Veibust with Arrival of 75m “Havfisk”

The state-of-the-art trawler Havfisk has officially been delivered by Karstensens Skibsværft to Havfisk AS, part of the Veibust Fiskeriselskap Group.

The vessel wa expected to arrive at Veibust Quay in Ålesund on Monday, 12 May 2025 at 08:30.

The 75-metre-long combination seiner/trawler represents the latest advancement in pelagic fishing, operating under the Norwegian flag and homeported in Ålesund. Havfisk joins sister vessels Havskjer and Havstål, completing a three-vessel fleet managed by Henning Veibust.

This is Veibust’s fourth newbuilding project, and the second direct collaboration with Karstensens on a fresh build, following the successful delivery of Havskjer in 2021. The hull for Havfisk was constructed at Karstensen Shipyard Poland in Gdańsk.

Hybrid-Ready Propulsion and Environmental Design

Havfisk is powered by a 5200 kW Wärtsilä 8V31 main engine, operating in tandem with a 3400 kW shaft generator. The design allows for diesel-mechanical and diesel-electric propulsion, supported by three auxiliary engines from Nogva Scania. A “take-me-home” PTH function ensures redundancy and operational flexibility.

The electric system is equipped with a Power Management System (PMS) and features floating frequency control for optimised fuel efficiency. This enables variable propeller RPMs from 108 to 130.

The vessel carries 2,530 m³ of refrigerated seawater (RSW) tank capacity, supplied by PTG FrioNordica, and supported by vacuum systems from C-Flow.

Interior design and furniture were supplied by Maritime Montering and Ekornes, with noise insulation engineered through placement and construction materials.
